P365, Day 264 - Warm Day

Warm day, need for a workout, and need to not go crowded places added up to 'take the kayak out'.

That may look lovely and green, but don't be fooled - the water is still cold. (I got a little overenthusiastic and opted for sandals instead of neoprene booties. Not a good choice.)

Date: 2020-03-10 11:12 pm (UTC)I think I'm going to avoid the pool for the time being - can't find any info on what pool chemicals will/won't do to the virus. *sigh*

Date: 2020-03-10 03:35 am (UTC)A wetsuit for future cold weather kayaking might be a good investment. I'm a paranoid old safety fanatic, but the mere thought of getting dumped into water as cold as that must still be is a very chilling thought, pun very much intended.

Date: 2020-03-10 11:19 pm (UTC)Nah, a wetsuit would be over the top. I'm unlikely to tip - my kayak is pretty stable, and I don't lean out. (I have a reach tool for grabbing trash when I'm on a cleanup mission, and I keep the camera over the boat for obvious reasons.) I wear a life jacket mostly for my mom's peace of mind. (My standard answer to anyone who asks what I'm going to do if I ever do tip is "cuss extensively, because my phone will be wet." Should the unlikely ever come to pass at this time of year, the water temperature will merely add a fillip to the cussing.)
