I believe this is a luna moth who had an unfortunate encounter - it looks like he's missing parts of his wings.


Meanwhile, this bloodthirsty fiend is a specimen of the infamous greenhead. We stopped down by the lighthouse, and they were swarming the car to the point that no one would get out. Several crawled over the windows - they're not dumb, they know there are things to bite inside the metal boxes if they can just find a way to get at us!

In addition to the bees and the wasps, we've got butterflies all over the place. Haven't managed to catch any of the bigger ones on camera yet (they mostly don't sit still long enough), but the little ones are less shy:( Behind a cut because multiple photos )
