Crossposting meta?

If I were to start cross-posting meta here (as opposed to just on Tumblr), would folks read/comment?
I like discussion, but trying to have a discussion on Tumblr is... frustrating.

I'd be far more likely to comment here than Tumblr. I never see anything there. I can scroll and scroll and find very little I want to see there. Their notification system is next to useless. One can tag someone's Tumblr but never gets more than a nano second to click on a notification before it is gone again. And it is far too cumbersome to try to guess which blogs among those I am following might have posted something interesting over the recent period.

Oh, good. I'm close to 'I've had it' with Tumblr. It's not a site for discussion, it's really just meant for oohing and aahing at shiny things. I just wanted to know I wouldn't be shouting into the void here!

I'm hooked on the fanart and an occasional sighting in my peripheral vision of something I want to read. I'll continue to play around on Tumblr, but it is no place for a discussion and I refuse to even try.

I'd definitely prefer discussing meta here. Sometimes I can't resist commenting on meta on Tumblr, but when the discussion then moves on - as it should! - I feel bad about commenting yet again because it'll just clog of my dash. And of course, I may well miss half the discussion because it happens after several reblogs and I won't be notified unless it happens immediately on my own post. Here, it's all in one place, (more or less) neatly threaded but nonetheless visible if I want to look what other people said.

So yes! I'd definitely read and comment here, if I feel I've got something to say on the matter!

I can't even tell when the discussion has moved on sometimes. Also, I'm getting really tired of segments of the fandom taking anything that doesn't mesh with their headcanon as a personal attack on their faves.

Yeah, you never know when something someone said in reply to something that you said suddenly becomes the true focus of the discussion! (I know I'm guilty of that as well. Tumblr's format really isn't well-suited to linear reading and/or discussion.)

I'm not sure linear reading and/or discussion is actually possible on Tumblr. Looking at the reblog chart for any posts that have gone beyond just one or two people is like looking at fractals.

It is! And even if you manage to keep track of it somehow, unless you're determined to stick with it AND hate all your followers, you'll eventually stop reblogging - which is the only way of commenting at length - simply because you know nobody wants to see the fifth reblog of the same original thread, but with three different discussions going on underneath.

Usually at that point I start just pulling out quotes of what I want to respond to and making a new post. Which makes it hard to track the discussion back, but at least saves everyone's dash (especially since using cuts is passe on Tumblr?)

That's an option, but as you say, it makes it hard for other participants to continue tracking the discussion... and it also makes it hard for others who are (against all odds ;)) new to the discussion to know what's already been talked about (especially if, like me, you don't like too many tabs open in your browser ;))!

Yeah, Tumblr is really not meant for discussion. It's more for likes.

I would love it! Discussing anything there is painful. (I mean, that post I made yesterday? I have no idea if the person who reblogged it from you was talking to me or to you, and I assumed the former. But I really don't know. And that was just a short little thread.)

I'm assuming she was talking to you - I've not said anything on Tumblr about my frustrations with Tumblr beyond the occasional 'it's hard to have a discussion on here' that I think just about everyone over a certain age has expressed.

I will definitely read meta here on DW. I much prefer it to trying to keep track on tumblr.
I might not feel up to commenting, except occasionally. I'm still more likely to comment here than on tumblr.

No worries about 'belated'! :)
I'm currently leaning more and more toward 'Tumblr is only for shiny things'. (I really like having the option to filter comments or lock anything that might be catnip for the drama llamas.)
