Author: Grundy
Rating: FR13
Crossover: Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
Disclaimer: I did not create the characters, and it wasn't my idea to have Elgin & co dig up a graveyard. No money is being made here, it's all in good fun.
Summary: Willow had a really wierd experience in another dimension.
Word Count: 330
Note: I ran out of time for Anariel tonight.

Dawn looked at Willow in mild concern, then to her sister.

“Will? You ok there?” Buffy asked. “I thought fetching this magical artifact from its home dimension was supposed to be simple?”

“I got the artifact,” Willow sighed. “And it was mostly simple, but there was the oddest group there looking for a different artifact.”

“Uh-oh,” Buffy sighed. “Did you have to fight them? Should I have gone along after all?”

“No, it’s probably just as well you didn’t,” Willow replied. “I think it could have gotten tense. They had a fighter too. But mostly they were digging. Not that I didn’t plan to dig too, but I was only going to do one grave…”

“Wait, you were graverobbing? First, not cool, and number two, ewww,” Dawn exclaimed. “I was going to volunteer to put it back when we were done, but not if it involves touching bodies that have been decomposing.”

“I think decomp works differently there,” Willow said thoughtfully. “I mean, the other group was waking up the dead to ask them questions.”

Buffy raised an eyebrow.

“What? Why?”

Unexpectedly, Willow snickered.

“They didn’t actually know where their artifact was,” she explained. “But they had some spell that would let them ask the dead a set number of questions. Except they hadn’t thought it through very well – half the time they were getting dead guys who knew nothing about the thing they were looking for, so they ended up spending a lot of time asking things like ‘what is your favorite food?’”

Dawn had a hard time holding back laughter, and Buffy was looking pretty amused as well.

“They ended up digging up pretty much the entire graveyard before they were done,” Willow added. “Which makes me borrowing a single thing from one grave which I didn’t even have to dig up because they’d already done it for me look harmless by comparison.”

“The whole graveyard?” Dawn spluttered.

“Yeah. And it turns out the thing they were looking for wasn’t even there,” Willow sighed.
