Wow!! The "spider-eyes" one is incredibly gorgeous! I've never seen a butterfly quite like that.
Are the others monarchs?
Oh, it makes me so happy to know they're still fluttering about.
Over here we've had a few more butterflies this year than the previous few years, so I'm thinking it was probably the drought that affected them and the populations are recovering again.
Monarch butterflies! They said on the news their number decreased because of environmental changes. In my area, I didn't notice a major difference compared to the past, but it's saddening to hear for this species.
You're welcome! Unfortunately, I think what with the weather, I'm unlikely to get too many more photos of them this year. (Saw a whole two this evening...don't know if they've stopped further inland or if they all pressed on across the bay today because they knew the weather was about to change.)
