Note: Sorry, v. brain fried tonight. Backtracking a bit. More and longer tomorrow.
It was hard to say what the twins had been more put out about – their baby sister appearing out of thin air when they were several days from home, or her being determined to stick around.
“This Key business is trouble,” was Elrohir’s rather cranky assessment.
“Oh, quit being such big babies about it,” Tindomiel snorted. “You liked it well enough when it got you home quicker. For all you know, Anariel might appreciate it too.”
“Anariel might appreciate a few days of peace and quiet and no relatives,” Elladan pointed out. “Which she could easily get by getting home in a more conventional way.”
“Traditional, even,” Elrohir added.
“You’re six days from home at best,” Tindomiel retorted. “She can have her few days of peace and quiet and still have the option to speed things up a bit.”
Because she’s totally noted for patience and isn’t going to be emphatic about wanting to see Nana and Ada or anything like that…
Both brothers gave her dour glances.
“She’ll probably be proud of me learning how to use the Key properly,” Tindomiel added, nettled by their attitude.
“You used it to get home to Imladris from Sunny Dale, how much more did you need to learn?” Elladan protested.
“That involved slicing my hand open, and Willow and Tara and Anya doing a lot to make sure everything worked. You’ll note there is no bloodshed required these days and I’m controlling things on my own. It took considerable learning, thank you very much.”
Maeglin glanced from brothers to sister and decided it was safest not to take sides.
“I think both of you had your minds somewhat warped by California,” Elrohir grumbled. “Surfing. Flying. This Key business.”
Tindomiel’s jaw dropped.
“One of those things is not like the other!” she pointed out indignantly. “Surfing and hang gliding are things lots of people do! You can take lessons all over the place.”
