Tindomiel looked around.

Yes, everything was in order. Books put away, ink capped, clothes to take packed, clothes to leave folded.

She always liked to make sure she left her rooms in order, no matter which house she was leaving or how long she expected to be gone. She’d had enough practice, what with circulating between new Gondolin, Tirion, and her father’s house fairly regularly.

She slung her pack onto her back. Good job packing. Not too heavy, not too light. But she had the oddest feeling she was forgetting something.

She looked around her room. No, she had packed everything she meant to take...

That was when it occurred to her that it wasn’t anything of hers she should take.

She darted across the hallway to her sister’s room. Most of the things that had come on the boat with Anariel were still boxed, except for the clothes that had been in her bags from Gondor.

Tindomiel strode across the room and to the door to her sister’s private armory. (Not that Anariel knew about it yet, but Tindomiel was fairly sure her sister the Slayer would approve of having a room to keep her very favoritest weapons conveniently nearby.)

She grabbed Calaliltië, her sister’s favorite sword, in the plain scabbard it had been found in. There was a strict prohibition on taking weapons to Lorien, which she suspected probably left Anariel feeling downright naked. After a moment’s thought, she added a few smaller knives for good measure. Rolling the lot up, she added it to her pack.

Yes, that was everything.

She tidied the Arwen packages on the bed – Anariel hadn’t exactly gotten to show off the outfit Arwen had intended for her arrival in Alqualondë, but there was still the Tirion one. Tindomiel was really looking forward to Gramma Anairë trying to tell Anariel what she could and couldn’t wear.

She headed downstairs.

“Nana! Ada! I’m going out. May be a little while!”

“Have fun, darling. Try not to cause too much trouble.”

She smiled.

Silly Nana. She knew perfectly well any trouble Tindomiel might cause these days paled in the face of whatever Anariel would doubtless unleash.

She skipped down the front steps and found herself in woods she didn’t rightly recognize.

“Where are we?” she asked, and tried not to smirk openly at the sight of her brothers the experienced warriors nearly jumping out of their skins.

“How-” Elladan demanded.

“That Key thing,” Elrohir sighed. “I am beginning to think I don’t like it. One troublesome little sister is enough.”
