P365, Day 353 - You Can't Always Get What You Want

This fellow was trying very hard to find a way to get up a tree that he had failed to climb directly. He tried every possible avenue up the bushes, hoping to find a high enough branch of the bush that came close enough to a lower branch of the tree. Alas, he was disappointed.

Thanks! Our intrepid climber had an audience for most of his quest - me, my sister, her husband, and her two kids were all watching and taking bets on whether he'd be able to reach this branch or that branch.

Wow, what a gorgeous climber! You do see some amazing wildlife around your way. What sort of snake is he, do you know?

Just a bog standard black racer as far as I tell. They're known to climb, usually looking for nests to rob. (We're also wondering what he knew that we didn't, because as far as we could see, there's no nests up the tree he was trying to get into.)
