My WAG would be some species of morning glory, but I have no idea which one.

Oh, thank you! We've honestly no idea how it came to be - best guess is an accidental tagalong with one of the nursery bought plants last year.

I second the evening primrose. The variety common over here is bright yellow and one of those wild plants showing up erratically. Our variety is in a different place every year, and all over the garden.
