This feathered fiend let me get far closer than expected. (Not quite as close as the photo makes it look. There was a zoom lens involved. But still pretty close)

Terrific zoom lens. Mine is next to non-existent.

I'm quite pleased with this lens - I got it refurbished, which meant it was half the list price for a new one. (Still awfully tempted by the big expensive zoom lens, though - this one doesn't focus quickly enough to do birds in flight reliably. I get lots of blurs.)

Yes, he remained perched on a branch basically right above me for a couple minutes before he flew! (Took the fish with him...)
