I really did not actually want to live this book. But I guess we don't have Thread, so we do have that going for us... (The way things are going, I'm seriously worrying I'm jinxing it/inviting a deadly meteor shower/something along those lines.)

I re-read both Nerilka and Moreta while in my hotel room isolation.

I never thought when I read those books as a teenager that I'd be living through something similar...

Right? It was all Quaint and an illustration of how the poor Pernese had lost so much medical knowledge and skills. And yet here we are. (I grant you that sane countries aren't doing this, but over here the poison control centers and public healthy authorities are having to clarify NO YOU SHOULD NOT DRINK OR INJECT CLEANING PRODUCTS NO MATTER WHAT THAT ORANGE IDIOT SAID.)

I caved in and bought the ebook while I was stuck in the hotel, but somehow I feel better reading the actual book.
