Does anyone recognize this plant?



I don't know what it is, and I'm wondering if I should be planting those seeds or not...
(Obviously it flowered at some point, but I either didn't see it in flower or don't remember what it looked like when it did.)

It looks like what I call balloon plant!

I googled balloon plant and thought for a minute that could be it, but then I noticed the leaves are quite different. But thanks for the suggestion! (Now I'm wondering if I can get balloon plant around here for elsewhere in the garden.)

No idea, but the leaves are definitely interesting. A complete WAG, but if that's a fruit forming, maybe some species of nightshade?

I'm not sure if it's a flower forming or a seedpod that hasn't turned brown yet like the one further down, but I don't think it's a fruit.

Not certain, but it looks like some kind of mallow to me - like this one maybe? If so, it's a nice perennial with handsome pink cup-like flowers (the one in the linked picture is closed for the night or rain - this is what they're like by day). So as long as it isn't invasive in your region (or as long as you can keep it from spreading outside the garden, I'd say go for it.

Oh, maybe!
I don't know about regular mallows - rose mallows are native here, and we do have one elsewhere. I'll keep an eye on it to see if it puts out any more flowers. (If it turns out to be a non-native mallow, I'll let this one do its thing and put the seeds elsewhere. This mound is meant to be all native plants.)
