This country was not, contrary to its own PR, founded on liberty and justice for all. It was founded on genocide and theft. If we've gotten any closer to our ideals, if we've made progress toward actually putting into practice our supposed belief that all are created equal and endowed with certain inalienable rights, it's because good people from all walks of life have been fighting for that since the beginning. We made a bold statement when we told the world we stood for freedom. We should make good on it.

Lift every voice and sing,
Till earth and heaven ring,
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the list'ning skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on till victory is won.
