grundyscribbling: an old fashioned camera (camera)

Actually, that's not strictly accurate. I have an excellent sense of direction in terms of finding my way places, and knowing where things are in relation to other things. I just completely brain-farted this morning about the direction of a particular road, which led to me thinking I'd be able to stop there to get a picture of the big, beautiful moon in the morning twilight. Alas, I miscalculated, and the moon was behind trees in the spot I'd had in mind. (This is all the worse because I'd passed a spot where I could have stopped, but expected better at the spot I was thinking of.) So this is not at all the photo I intended, and no moon. Meh. At least the day got better...

If it's any consolation, that's still a beautiful shot.

One of my own personal rules of nature photography: take every shot that looks like it might be good (my gas milage on road trips is the pits, needless to say). I love digital cameras for that, film was a PITA for the cost of developing negatives and getting prints.

That's still a lovely peaceful pic, but I agree - always take the pic as soon as you can, you can always take another later!
