Reading Wednesday (sorta)
May. 2nd, 2024 09:25 pmAll Christie, all the time this week...
Three Act Tragedy
Sneaky Christie, hiding a clue right in the title.
Murder In The Mews
Short story collection – lots of fun, although I had ‘cheated’ and seen the adaptation of one already. I liked Dead Man’s Mirror particularly, and found the Suchet adaptation disappointing – not sure why they felt the need to make Sir Gervase Chevenix-Gore a slightly nasty art dealer rather than the latter-day aristocrat he was in the original. It didn’t add anything, and it’s not as if ‘eccentric gentleman’ isn’t a well-established type in British literature.
Appointment with Death
So close, and yet so far…I knew who it wasn’t but didn’t pick the right one for who it was.
Did not think much of the adaptation, despite it being a fun round of ‘spot the actor’. (Belloq from Raiders of the Lost Ark, Lady Grantham, Jonathan from The Mummy, Mrs. Elton, Tim Curry, Mark Gatiss… not going to touch on how many of them were also in Midsomer Murders.)
After the Funeral
Interesting. Completely missed who dunnit because I couldn't see how they'd did it. (Still watching the adaptation. Not entirely liking how they changed characters.)
