It's an annual event a Buffy crossover site I post on runs - post a short fic (300-3000 words) every day during the month of August. It's still hosted on LJ, but I'm a bit antsy about having fic posted only there these days. (I have no particular reason to think the site will go away, but I worry. And Fic A Day is pretty much the only thing I look in on LJ for anymore.)
I'd probably feel the same way. Can't you cross-post to AO3.
Gotta admit I've never watched a single episode of Buffy. Now it's probably too late for me--kind of like you had to be there when it happened to appreciate it.
Yes, I should cross-post to AO3! I will get around to it one of these days - as soon as I figure out how to unmake the mess I've made of the timeline in the 'verse I write the most! (Started out trying to do a ficlet collection, which each story a new chapter. That went to heck in a handbasket when I started jumping all over the timeline.)
I don't know that it's too late if you've never watched Buffy. On the one hand, I don't know how well it's aged. Coming to it for the first time now might be a little odd, especially given that it was filmed in the age before everyone above the age of 10 had cell phones. But some of the episodes were amazing, and I would be really surprised if The Body isn't still featured on best episode lists not just for Buffy, but for TV in general.
Yes, please, links would be awesome! I avoid LJ like the proverbial plague it is (it puts tracking databases in the browser files that you have to go in and manually delete from system folders, at least in Mac OS X Safari). The only time I go to LJ is for fic, then I have to clean my computer. :-/ I tried accessing LJ via TOR browser, but the damn site blocks anything that might be 18+ and you can't sign up for a site account using TOR browser, which was the other option I tried.
You're welcome. I still like doing Fic A Day well enough to deal with the LJ hassle, but it really is the only time I log in there anymore, so I don't blame anyone else for wanting to avoid it!
